Midwest Nursery
Growing high quality trees at a competitive price

Legacy in Landscape

Rooted in Tradition. Growing for the Future.
Since 1970, Midwest Nursery has expanded from a modest tree farm into a thriving 100-acre operation dedicated to quality and consistency. Once a division of Midwest Landscapes, we became an independent company in 2021—continuing our commitment to growing exceptional trees for the upper Midwest.

We specialize in wholesale, balled and burlap (B&B) shade and ornamental trees, serving both commercial and residential landscape professionals. Our trees are field-grown with care and ideal for projects that demand long-lasting beauty and reliability.

Exciting growth is underway! With the addition of a second Monticello property, we’ll soon be offering a full selection of evergreen B&B trees. Stay tuned—there’s more to come.
The Process
Where Our Trees Come From

Outsourcing the Trees
At Midwest Nursery MN, we partner with trusted growers in the Pacific Northwest and northern Minnesota to source the majority of our trees. Each spring, we receive truckloads of high-quality bare root trees, which are carefully stored in our on-site coolers for up to three months to ensure optimal health and readiness for planting.

Cooler Operation:
The Bare Root Room
Once the trees arrive in Minnesota, they go straight into our cooler rooms—what we like to call The Bare Root Room. These climate-controlled spaces are pressure-sealed to protect against all outdoor elements and are maintained at a steady 55.5°F. The trees remain dormant in this environment for up to three months, preserving their health and readiness until it’s time to plant.

Dig & Plant Season
Spring is our busiest time of year. We kick off the season with our digging process, starting as early as possible to lift all 6,000 trees from the ground before the first buds appear. Once digging wraps up, we move immediately into planting season—working quickly and efficiently to get every tree in the ground at just the right time.
